The InteliCompact NT Family comprises a range of comprehensive gen-set controller for single and multiple generating sets operating in stand-by or parallel modes.

The MainsCompactNT is a mains controller for a group of gen-sets controlled by InteliCompactNT operating in stand-by or parallel modes. A modular construction allows upgrades to different levels of complexity in order to provide the best solution for various customer applications.

The controllers are equipped with a powerful graphic display showing icons, symbols and bar-graphs for intuitive operation, which sets, together with high functionality, new standards in Gen-set controls.3

Interview with Mr. Fritz Spichiger from Diesel-Fritz in Langenthal

I have for the second time chosen ComAp’s InteliDrive controller platform to control, monitor and protect the retro-fitted Volvo D16 (EMS-II) engine because:

• The integration and wiring into an existing loco design is very easy and straightforward, with the minimum amount of wires. Thanks also to the uncomplicated manuals provided with the system.
  
  
• It is configured and commissioned within 1 day, even into such complex applications. Thanks to Huegli Tech’s great support and know-how.
  
  
• Virtual any function such as engine monitoring & additional protection, gear-box control (incl. still-standing monitoring & protection), air-system & compressor management, hydraulic-system management, AC-control, speed-limiting, etc. can be easily integrated into ComAp’s InteliDrive controllers.
  
  
• An accurate and fast acting wheel-slip protection was a must to prevent damage to both the loco and the track.
  
  
• The great high resolution 8” colour visualisation via 2 InteliVision displays (with customised measurement screens) provides further and much clear information to the operator.
  
  
• Not to forget effortless and rapid access to information such as trend-monitoring, fault-log (also from the engine ECU), history, set points, etc. which are indispensable and important for the service personal. All this and more is available on the InteliVision itself without connecting a laptop, and more remarkable, these two IV displays cost only half as much as the standard CIU interface with 2 instrument clusters.
  
  
• So far, 2 locos have been equipped. One has been running for over a year and the other for 6 months without any problems. Both the operator and I are very satisfied about the system, application engineering and support provided.  
  
  
• All in all, our total HW and application costs worked out at around a 1/3rd of other comparable systems available on the market.

An exhaust spark arrestor is a key safety requirement for both hazardous area and lower risk diesel engine applications such as forestry or agriculture where a stray spark may cause ignition of combustible material. Virtually all legislation with respect to the use of diesel engines in hazardous areas includes a mandatory requirement to fit an exhaust spark arrestor.
